Information about BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA Bosnia & Herzigovina (BiH) is a country emerging from the shadow of its recent history. Ironically, it was centuries of cultural diversity that melted BiH into one of the most fascinating, interesting, and beautiful countries in Europe. Sandwiched between Croatia and Serbia, it"s been a zone of contention between the Occident and the Orient. It"s been through Christian, Muslim and Orthodox hands; for a while its people seemed to enjoy their multi-cultural milieu and the Bosnian people have maintained their incredible friendliness toward visitors. One cannot separate the culture and traditions of its people from the natural environment. Bosnia and Hercegovina"s ample forests, streams and mountains provide the potential for numerous outdoor adventuring activities. BiH has a large rural population and the main industry is agriculture. But Bosnia and Herzegovina is representative of the many countries posed with the challenge of eco-friendly development in times of transition. Rich in natural resources and beauty, BiH is striving to find responsible means of promoting and protecting its vast natural wealth in order to preserve these invaluable gems of our environment and cultural history.
